During the days, we emerge into the Spanish history and culture with trips to cities of immense historical significance and beauty: Granada, Baeza and Úbeda. Bodily we get spoilt with spa and massage during a visit to the newly restored Arab Baths of 1001 Nights beauty just below the Alhambra Palace. One of the days you can sign up for a guided hike in the magnificent and varied countryside around Garden of lemons.

Back home in Garden of lemons we let us being seduced by the sherrys sublime partnership with tapas, and we taste wines with great potential from local bodegas. For even if wine has been cultivated in Andalusia since the earliest days, right in these years there is a lot happening in Spanish enology, where tradional methods are being linked to both new knowledge and new tastes ambitions.

Along the coast we visit Salobreña with its towering castle high above the Mediterranean Sea before going to Motril, to inhale and get an introduction to a rum adventure in Europe’s last still publicly accessible rum distillery. For more than a thousand years right up to 2006 sugarcane production was the main industry in the area, and this rum distillery is one of the few remaining testimonies of these times. Lunch at the authentical local beach bar / restaurant, Manolo.

At this weeks exclusive Andalusian road-trip we’ll be driving through an undulating sea of olive trees north of Granada, before reaching the two Renaissance cities of outstanding beauty, Úbeda and Baeza, both on Unesco’s World Heritage list. Here we visit the chapel of incredible beauty Capilla Sacra – this year highly discussed in Denmark because of the bestseller of the author and journalist Charlotte Rørth, “I have met Jesus,” which describes the miracle she experienced during her visit to the chapel. Lunch at the five-star Palacio de Úbeda.
